# The Turtle Who Talked Too Much

There was a pond, and in that pond lived a turtle. His name was Golu.
Golu had two close friends, two geese. The three of them played together, talked together, sat by the water's edge every evening.
One year, the rains never came. The pond began to dry up. The geese said, "Golu, there won't be any water left here soon. We have to fly to a big lake far away."
Golu grew sad. "Don't leave me behind," he said.
The geese thought for a moment, then had an idea. "We'll bring a stick. You hold the middle of it in your mouth. We'll each hold one end and fly. But remember, not a single word the whole way, no matter what."
Golu brightened up. "Alright, I won't say anything at all."
The stick arrived. Golu clamped down on the middle of it with his mouth, the geese took hold of either end, and the three of them rose into the sky.
Below them, a village came into view. Some children were playing there. They looked up and shouted, "Look, look, a turtle is flying! How strange it looks!"
Golu didn't like that one bit. He wanted so badly to shout back, "I'm not strange, I'm just going with my friends!"
And the moment he opened his mouth to speak...
He let go of the stick.
Golu dropped straight down.
Luckily, there was soft grass below, and he wasn't badly hurt. But his two friends were terrified.
Golu opened his eyes, saw the geese standing right beside him, and smiled softly.
This story teaches us, sometimes staying quiet is the wisest thing we can do, especially when someone tries to tease us into speaking. If it isn't necessary to say, it doesn't need saying at all.
